Sherman Ray Droke, 60, of Comanche, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016.
He was born February 20, 1956, in Odessa, Texas to Louis A. and Edna Faye Tucker Droke.
Sherman lived in the Beattie community his entire life. He worked as a floor specialist for many years for his family’s flooring business. Sherman was an outdoorsman. He loved nature and spending time outside. He especially loved his tractor and farming his land. Sherman proudly served in the United States Air Force and he had recently retired from the National Guard. He was the Salutatorian of Comanche High School, class of 1974. Sherman was a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his companion, Sharon Gryder; step-children, Anthony Lee Gryder and Litina Marie Griffin; brother, Lyndon A. Droke and wife, Synthia; sister, Lona F. Cheairs and husband, Leland; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Edna Droke.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Bailey officiating. Sherman was laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
