Alta Mae (Park) Taylor, 81, of De Leon, went home to meet her Lord and Savior November 11, 2018, with her loving family by her side. She was born February 20, 1937, to Theron P. and Alice Brown (Campbell) Park.
Alta and Donald were long time members of De Leon First United Methodist Church. They moved to De Leon in 1991 from Jal, New Mexico. As a young teenager, Alta worked for Scarbrough's Department Store on Congress Avenue in downtown Austin. She later worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company. While Alta lived in Jal, New Mexico she sold Avon and served as the Chamber of Commerce Manager for a brief period of time. She was a wonderful cook and a talented seamstress. She sewed and quilted her family many keepsakes over the years. Alta was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family; they were her greatest joy in life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Alta is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald Taylor of De Leon; one daughter, Debra Brown and husband, Jeff, of Bullard; sister, Melba (Park) Owen of Round Rock; two grandchildren, Jerek and wife, Carla, of Ft. Worth, and Loryn (Brown) Best and husband, Alex, of Bullard; five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Alice Brown, Jailey Jan Brown, and Jai Jerek Brown, all of Ft. Worth, Kinley Mae Best and Everly Ann Best, both of Bullard.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Theron P. and Alice Brown (Campbell) Park; four brothers, Freddy, James, Paschal, and David Park.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Alta Mae Taylor were held Friday, November 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Pastor John Woodard officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon First United Methodist Church at 616 Houston, De Leon.Thursday
