Amelia Montez Reyna, 83, of De Leon, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014, with her family by her side.
She was born August 2, 1931, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Jacinto Montez and Candice Hernandez Montez.
Amelia was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in De Leon. She and her husband, Guadalupe Reyna, moved to De Leon in 1963 and raised their family. Amelia loved the Dallas Cowboys and watched every game that she could. She enjoyed bingo, dancing, watching novelas and cooking for her family. She loved her family dearly and was always her happiest while spending time with them.
She is survived by her children, Gloria Garcia, Manual Reyna, Joe Reyna, Janie Perez, Johnny Reyna, Donna Arreola, Tony Reyna, Chris Reyna, Steven Reyna and Mary R. Juarez; 27 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; sister, Victoriana Mesa; and other extended family. Amelia has gone home to join her husband, Guadalupe Reyna; son, Lupe Reyna, Jr.; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in De Leon with Father McNamara officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
