Obituary

Angus Dion Black Hawk was born on January 20, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas to Joseph Black Hawk and Ione Jean Finley (Wicker). Angus passed away on June 18th, 2025, at home surrounded by family in Burleson, Texas. Angus' Hidatsa name was Lean Bull (Xaraxi Midee), he was a child of the Prairie Chicken Clan and member of the Knife Clan. He was raised along with his siblings in the Diamond Hill area of north side Fort Worth.

Angus attended Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School and graduated in 1982. Angus played sports and was even part of the rodeo team at school. He joined the United States Navy in 1983 and proudly served for a few years. During his time in the Navy, he found a passion for music and taught himself to play the guitar. After his tenure in the Navy, he returned to Texas and lived with his family. He joined his brothers in their musical aspirations and began playing bass in their bands playing different venues across DFW. Most notable venue was Joe's Garage, where he met his wife Katrina. Angus married Katrina Scott on December 18, 1993, and together had one daughter Allyson Kathryn Black Hawk. Angus also gained two bonus daughters, Carolyn Golden and Lauren Moore.

In the 90's Angus began working in the mobile home industry and had a career span of over 30 years. He loved his craft and was attentive to detail when it came to his work. He made an impact everywhere he went and had a great relationship with coworkers. In his later years Angus enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, dancing at powwows, and riding his motorcycle. He loved his family more than anything and was known to everyone as a family man. He was extremely proud to be a Pappy to his grandchildren.

Angus is survived by his devoted wife, Katrina Black Hawk; daughters, Allyson Black Hawk-Hallmark and husband, Chanse; Carolyn Golden, and Lauren Moore; brothers, Dory Black Hawk and wife, Shani, and Jason Black Hawk; sisters, Kimberly Stearns and husband, Cy; Delpha Black Hawk and husband, Chris Livingston; and Donessa Wicker; ten grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces; and other extended family.
