Obituary

Ann Locke Sadberry, 77, a lifelong resident of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior October 21, 2020, with her loving family by her side. She was born October 3, 1943, to Claude Hiram Locke and Dorotha Smith Locke in Gorman, Texas. Ann married her husband of fifty-eight years, J.W. Sadberry, May 25, 1962, at First Christian Church, De Leon.

Ann was a long-time member of De Leon First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the organ at her church and worshiping the Lord. She retired from the medical field as a medical records transcriptionist. For many years she also worked as an insurance agent. Ann was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. Ann enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. She loved hosting family gatherings and cooking large homemade meals for her family. Spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy in life. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, J.W. Sadberry; sons, Russell Sadberry (Denise), Adam Sadberry (Jamie); daughters, Jill Sadberry and Maggie Thayer (Josh); grandchildren, Darian Abels (Dakota), Brent Cleere, Paige Miller (Kyle), Alyssa Sadberry, Zach Sadberry, Tye Sadberry, Eathan Thayer (Ashley), Matalynn Thayer and Addison Thayer; great-grandchildren, Mason Abels and Ira Abels; brothers, Joe Locke (Debbie), Bill Locke (Patsy), and Jack Locke (Claudia); numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Hiram Locke and Dorotha Smith Locke.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 24, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Alan Sadberry and Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Zach Sadberry, Tye Sadberry, Brent Cleere, Eathan Thayer, Manon Locke and Matthew Locke. Interment followed in Downing Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Comanche County Medical Center Foundation, in memory of Ann.
