Arthur Almaguer, 72, of De Leon, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born May 8, 1942, in San Saba, Texas, to Frank Almaguer and Margarita Ramos.
Arthur owned and operated an income tax assistance business for many years. He was Catholic and served in the United States Army for over six years during the Vietnam War. SGT Almaguer was honorably discharged after serving in Germany and received many decorations and medals for his dedication and courage. He had lived in many different communities in Texas but De Leon was his home. His favorite hobby was watching the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his daughters, Melinda Almaguer and Vickie Dominguez and husband, Sam, all of Abernathy, Texas; grandchildren, Vanessa Dominguez, Matthew Dominguez, Kyra Leaks and Bryson Leaks; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn McCleskey, Mattax Ledesema and Brendyn Dominguez; sister, Alice Estrada of Dalton, GA; and other extended family. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Juan, Louis, Albert, Roland and Frank.
Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, September 4, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Father McNamara officiating.
