Barbara Ann Clark Helberg, 78, went home to meet her Lord and Savior October 28, 2019, with her loving family by her side. She was born April 26, 1941, in Coleman, Texas to Alvie and Ruby Mae Dodgen Clark. Barbara married Raymond G. Helberg August 1, 1959, in Coleman, Texas.
Barbara was a long-time member of De Leon First United Methodist Church. She was employed for over twenty-five years as a paraprofessional in the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD. She was later employed with Comanche County Water Supply Company as the office director. Barbara also served as the De Leon Chamber of Commerce Director for five years. Barbara really enjoyed volunteering in her community as she was able. She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, reading, painting, camping and growing and arranging flowers. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, selfless mother, doting grandmother and great-grandmother, caring sister, and faithful friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Raymond G. Helberg; daughters, Vicki Laurence and husband, Paul, and Robin Howell and husband, Jimmy; mother, Ruby Mae Dodgen Clark; grandchildren, H.D. Laurence, Chase Laurence, Jennifer Howell, Candace DuVall and husband, Seth, and Stephanie Laurence; great-grandchildren, Tait DuVall, Talon DuVall, Teah DuVall, Patton Laurence, Grace Laurence and Bella Laurence; sisters, Joyce Hagler Trainer and husband, J.C., and Linda Dority and husband, Ronnie; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Alvie Clark.
Memorial services celebrating Barbara's life were held Thursday, October 31, 2019, at 10 a.m. at De Leon First United Methodist Church with Pastor John Woodard officiating. Barbara's final wishes were to let her generosity live on well past her earthly life. She willed her body to Texas Tech University for the benefit of research. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon First United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in memory of Barbara.
