Bernard (Bernie) Hatmaker, 78, of De Leon, passed from this life Monday, April 17, 2023, in Abilene. He was born October 21, 1944, in Harlan, Kentucky to Owen Hatmaker and Lottie Farmer Hatmaker. Bernie married Nancy Vera December 20, 1987, in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

Bernie was a member of the Catholic Church and attended services at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in De Leon as he was able. He earned his higher educational degree in Radiology and eventually retired as the Director of Radiology for La Paz Regional Hospital in Parker, Arizona after many decades of dedication. He truly enjoyed his career, his coworkers, and helping patients. Bernie enjoyed many hobbies including golfing, boating, target shooting, and watching westerns. His family was his greatest joy in life. He was a devoted husband to Nancy, a loving and supportive father, a wonderful son, brother and uncle, and a loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and loving family.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Hatmaker; daughter, Erica Fresch and husband, Timothy; grandchildren, Talon, Skyler, Trinity, and Liliana; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Bernie has been reunited with his loving wife, Nancy; his parents, Owen and Lottie Hatmaker; and his brothers, Earl, Norman, Curtis, and Wayne.

Funeral services celebrating Bernard's life were held Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in memory of Bernie.
