Obituary

Bernice Leona Dickey, 81, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 16, 2016. She was born August 7, 1934, in Orange, Texas, to Victor Eugene King and Odelia Rougeaux King.

Leona was a long-time member of Comyn Baptist Church and had lived in De Leon most all of her life. She was a retired LVN. She enjoyed dancing, growing flowers, collecting rocks, fishing, spending time outdoors and working crossword puzzles. She loved her family and many friends and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Ralph Dickey and Stephen Dickey; daughter, Laurie Duncan and husband, James; grandsons, Jeremy Dickey and wife, Trina, Jonathan Dickey, Joshua Dickey, Eric Dickey, Aaron Swafford, Bradley Duncan and Travis Dickey; granddaughters, Leanna Winter and Jessica Cogburn; sisters, Mary Kyle and Marjorie Boyd and husband, Lawrence; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and other extended family.

She has been reunited with her parents, Eugene King and Odelia King Grimes; brothers, Edmond Victor King, A.C. (Ace) Mathew Grimes, and Billy Ray Grimes.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Comyn Baptist Church with Brother Ray Seckinger officiating. Graveside services followed in Proctor Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Dickey, Jonathan Dickey, Joshua Dickey, Eric Dickey, Jordan Cogburn and Aaron Swafford. Honorary pallbearers were Keylenn Swafford and Michael Lopez.
