Bernice Skaggs Farley, 89, of De Leon, went home to join her Lord and Savior Sunday, June 8, 2014, at De Leon Nursing and Rehab.

She was born February 5, 1925, in Comanche County to Henry F. Skaggs and Lizzie Browning Skaggs.

Bernice lived in the De Leon community her entire life. She was a life-long member of Rock Bluff Baptist Church. She loved singing and playing the piano and often participated in church singings. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. She also enjoyed writing music and once wrote a book about the Skaggs family. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her sons, Jim Farley and wife, Martha, and Danny Farley and wife, Marsha; grandchildren, Amy Farley, Jamie Farley, David Farley, Glenn Farley and Stephen Farley; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; other extended family and a host of friends.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lizzie Skaggs; great-granddaughter, Madison Farley; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Farley; sisters, Mae Quinn, Cleo Clement, Elsie Robinett and Marie White; and brothers, Virgil Skaggs, Vernon Skaggs, Archie Skaggs, Lloyd Skaggs and Frankie Lee Skaggs.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church. Graveside services followed in Rock Bluff Cemetery. Bernice's sons, Danny Farley and Jim Farley, officiated the services. Music was provided by Vicki Robinett, Nikki Febinger, Danny Farley and Jim Farley. Pallbearers were David Farley, Cliff Moore, Dustin Farley, Sam Robinett, John Willhoite and Klinton Hardin.
