Beth Shirley, 80, of Gorman, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, November 17, 2013.
She was born July 11, 1933 in Sugar Hill, Texas, to Tom Clark Crenshaw and Ruth Lee Driggers Crenshaw.
Beth married her husband of 62 years, Frank Porter Shirley, October 20, 1951.
Beth was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She was a faithful servant to her Lord by ministering alongside her husband as a pastor's and evangelist's wife, piano player, organist, counselor and countless hours as an adult and children Sunday school teacher. Frank and Beth were active members of Highland Baptist Church. Beth loved singing, listening to music and photography. She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. Beth loved her family, church and community dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Porter Shirley of Gorman; sons, Gary Shirley and wife, Shirley, Steven Shirley and wife, Laurelle, David Shirley and wife, Kathy, and Timothy Shirley and wife, Barbara; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy Crenshaw and Leighton Crenshaw; sister, Delois Floyd; niece, Darlene Caswell; nephew, Ronnie Floyd; and other extended family.
Beth has gone home to join her parents; sister, Jo Jones; and brothers, Vern Crenshaw, Travis Crenshaw and Paul Crenshaw.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church. Graveside services followed in Howard Cemetery. Brother Burt Atkins and Brother David Locke officiated the services.
