Betty E. Bettis, 83, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior March 4, 2017, with her family by her side.
She was born July 5, 1933, in Dublin, Texas to George and Ora Guest. Betty married Cedric Bettis on May 30, 1952.
Betty was a long-time faithful member of De Leon First Baptist Church. She lived in Comanche county most of her life. She was a special education teacher and retired from the Texas education system after thirty two years of dedicated service. The latter part of her teaching career was spent in the De Leon ISD. She loved her students and was determined to help children learn to read. She always tried her best to keep up with former students so she could watch them succeed and do well in life. Betty enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she was always her happiest while spending time with her family. She will be immeasurably missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 64 years, Cedric Bettis; son, Brad Bettis and wife, Tracey; daughter, George Ann Kuettel and husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Matt Kuettel, Mason Kuettel and wife, Jenny, Whitley Bettis, Codi Bettis and Braden Bettis; great-grandchildren, Jacob Kuettel, Emma Kuettel, James Kuettel and Faith Kuettel; and many loving friends. Betty has been reunited with her parents, George and Ora Guest.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Betty was laid to rest in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Erath County.
