Betty Marie Higginbottom, 82, of Ft. Worth and formerly of De Leon, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, with her family by her side.

She was born January 10, 1934, in Somerville County, Texas, to Truman Wilson Beard and Bessie Marie Morrow Beard. She married Bascom Higginbottom May 29, 1950, in Comanche, Texas.

Betty was a long time member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. She loved spending time with her family, sewing, cooking, and painting. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bascom Higginbottom; son, Wayland Higginbottom and wife, Kathy; daughters, Cynthia Marie Prewitt and husband, Mike, Vivian Lucille Sykes, and Diana Lynn Wells and husband, Ricky; brother, Wesley Beard and wife, Judy; sister, Lillian Harris and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Richard Corbitt, Kyle Prewitt, John-Thomas Sykes, Breezy Cooley, Amanda Taylor, Noland Higginbottom, Christina Goussard and Lance Wells; nine great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 12, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, De Leon, with Brad Fry officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
