Betty Locke Campbell, age 93, peacefully entered her heavenly home, on July 24, 2026, where she was united with her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on November 8, 1932, at 106 E. Ross Street in De Leon, Texas, Betty was the first child of Emmett and Myrtle Locke. She enjoyed a happy childhood in De Leon alongside her two sisters, Nina and Pat. From infancy, Betty attended the First Christian Church in De Leon, beginning a lifelong journey of faith that remained the foundation of her life.

Betty graduated as Salutatorian of De Leon High School's Class of 1950. She continued her education at North Texas State University, earning a degree in Home Economics in 1954. After graduation, she moved to Abilene, Texas, where she worked as a Home Economist for the Lone Star Gas Company. In this role, she spent five years demonstrating the operation and benefits of gas appliances combining her knowledge of cooking with her gift of connecting with others.

During her college years, Betty reconnected through letters with her high school friend, William Ray Campbell, who was serving in the United States Navy. After Bill's honorable discharge, the two began dating in Abilene. They were married on November 14, 1954, in DeLeon, Texas, and shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage until Bill was called home to the Lord in 2021. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, faith, and devotion.

Together, Betty and Bill raised two children, Diana and Scott. Betty considered being a stay-at-home mother from 1961 to 1981 one of the greatest blessings of her life and often said those years were among her happiest memories. Her love, encouragement, and steady presence created a home filled with warmth and faith.

In 1981, Betty joined Bill in operating the family's print shop, where they worked side by side until the business closed in 1992. She later worked in the insurance department at Zale Corporation for seven years before retiring in 2000.

Retirement opened the door to one of Betty and Bill's greatest joys—traveling together. They explored much of the United States and visited several countries abroad. Among their favorite memories was traveling to Costa Rica to celebrate the wedding of their adopted granddaughter, Christina Gurben.

In 2001, Betty and Bill welcomed their first and only grandchild, Catherine Gruber, whom they adored beyond measure. They faithfully attended her school activities, cheering her on through hundreds of volleyball games, performances, and countless special moments. Their love and encouragement were constant throughout her life.

In 2000, Betty and Bill moved to Clifton, Texas, where they became active members of the Clifton Church of Christ. Betty especially cherished Ladies' Bible Study, the friendships she formed within the congregation, and opportunities to serve others. She also participated in numerous donation drives benefiting Cherokee Children's Home in Cherokee, Texas, reflecting her generous and compassionate heart.

Following Bill's passing, Betty remained in Clifton for a year before moving back to the Dallas–Fort Worth area to live with her daughter, Diana, where she was surrounded by the love and care of her family.

Betty's life was marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, kindness, and gratitude. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the constant that guided every season of her life. She found joy in serving her family, her church, and those around her, leaving a legacy of faith, love, and grace that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Campbell; her parents, Emmett and Myrtle Locke; and her sister, Nina Locke Johnson.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Diana Campbell; her son, Scott Campbell; her cherished granddaughter, Catherine Gruber; her sister, Pat; Koonce, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Her life touched countless people, and her memory will be treasured by all who were blessed to know her.

Graveside funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Drew Ritchie officiating.
