Obituary

Betty Fay Melton, 86, of De Leon, peacefully passed from this life at her home on August 30, 2022. She was born March 21, 1936, in Hasse, Texas to Melvin Elston McDonough and Edna Mae Walker McDonough. Betty married Billy Don Melton October 20, 1952, in Cisco, Texas. Billy Don preceded her in death May 23, 1991.

Betty was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family. Outside the home she worked for the Senior Citizen Center for many years. She also professionally baked and decorated cakes for many years. Betty had a green thumb and could grow the prettiest flowers and loved to mow her yard. She was also a talented seamstress. She moved to this area in 1982 from Gilmer, Texas and loved living here. For many years she attended Desdemona First Baptist Church but later in life was faithful to watch Sunday morning church programs from home. She was a retired member of the Gilmer Chapter #355 Order of the Eastern Star. Betty was a dedicated wife and mother, doting grandmother, loving sister and aunt, and special friend to many. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam Fuller, Cindy Watkins and husband, Acie, Jenny Keck and husband, Doyle Rone, and Katrina Baldridge; grandchildren, Shane and wife, Keri, Stacy and husband, Chad, Renee and husband, Willie, Michele and husband, Chris, Jamie, Josh and wife, Lisa, CJ and wife, Bryanna, Jessie and husband, Larry, Mindy, Summer, Chance and wife, Lyna, Terry and Partner, Lennon, Michelle and husband, Josh, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Paris, Reese and Samantha, Katie and Caleb, Aaron, Triston and Tori, Madison and Cade, Jake, Cole, Luke, Penny and Cassie, Kirstyn, Dylan and Drake, Layne and Raeli, Shay and Haley; many great-great grands; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Betty has been reunited with her husband, Billy Don Melton; son, Billy Rex Melton; parents, Melvin and Billy Don McDonough; granddaughter, Veronica D'Shay Baldridge; son-in-law, James Leslie Fuller; twin brother, Billy Ray McDonough; brother, Medford McDonough; sisters, Dee Irving and Dora Chandler; grandparents, David Bruce Walker and Eva Mae Walker.

Graveside funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. in Desdemona Cemetery Saturday, September 3, 2022.
