Bill
Preston
May 4, 1938 — Jan 21, 2021
Bill Preston, 82, of De Leon, passed away January 21, 2021, at his home. He was born May 4, 1938, in Abilene, Texas to Festus and Elouise Grissom Preston. Bill married his loving wife of over sixty years, Pansy Beth Coan, August 29, 1959, in Ft. Worth.
Bill graduated from De Leon High School in 1956. Bill and Pansy lived all their married life in De Leon, other than a few years when they lived in Ft. Worth. Bill was self employed as a homebuilder and carpenter. He was an incredibly skilled wood worker and could build anything. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and working in his yard. He loved to fish in his free time. Bill looked forward to joining in on the HWY 6 Café coffee shop talk almost daily. He loved his coffee buddies and loved even more to ruffle many of their feathers discussing politics. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, caring father and grandfather, and loyal friend to many. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving Bill are his sons, Bryon Preston and Darrel Preston and wife, Debbie; daughter-in-law, Bobbie; sister Charlotte McDougal; grandchildren, Mindy Stone, Jeremy Gilder, Jeffery Gilder, Jaci Vaughan, Jalecia Preston, Kent Preston and Shelby Preston; great grandchildren, Katlyn Justus, Cody Stone, Dylan Stone, Taylor Vaughan, Saharra Vaughan, Max Gilder and Grant Gilder; one great-great grandson, Dawson Wade Justus; special friend, Marie Nabors; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Bill has been reunited with his wife, Pansy Preston; son, Howard Preston; and his parents.
Graveside funeral services celebrating Bill's life were held Monday, January 25, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Skaggs, Joel Simpson, Jack Simpson, David Coan, David Gilder, Robert Gilder, and his special group of Hwy 6 Cafe coffee friends.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon Senior Citizens Center at 133 W Ball Park Loop, De Leon.
*Due to the current Comanche County COVID-19 regulations on group gatherings, we kindly ask that any friends planning to attend Bill's graveside service respectfully stand at least 20 feet from the tent. The tent seating will be reserved for immediate family only. We are saddened that we cannot currently allow friends to pay their respects to the Preston family with a traditional visitation and ceremony. The family appreciates your understanding of the graveside safety regulations and is thankful for your continued prayers and kind thoughts during this difficult time.
