Billy Eugene Roberson passed from this life on Sunday, February 27, 2022. He had been a resident of De Leon since the early 1990s.

Bill was born in Idabel, Oklahoma on May 17, 1926, to Mann and Myrtle Roberson. Fred Roberson, a brother was born on November 8, 1928. The family resided in Wirt, Oklahoma. Bill served proudly in the US Navy (Seaman, First Class) during WWII from 1944 until his discharge in 1946. He was assigned to the USS Briscoe bound for the South Pacific. Following his discharge, Bill settled in Odessa, Texas. He married Doris Lee Elms on August 30, 1947. Bill and Doris had three children, Sammy Lee (1954), Becky Jean (1957), and Bonnie Lorene (1959). The marriage ended in 1977.

Bill was a long-time employee of Phillips Petroleum Company working for 35 years as a carpenter and crew leader before opting to retire early in September of 1982. Bill remarried in 1985 to Barbara Taylor Gregston. They purchased property and moved to De Leon. There they rebuilt the home on the property and settled in to enjoy their retirement until 2009, when Barbara passed away.

Bill was active in the Church of Christ and served as a deacon at the Eisenhower Church of Christ. He was an active woodworker using his skills to refurbish their retirement home (built in 1910) as well as making furniture and furnishings for the home. His home was a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy each other's company. For grandkids to experience being outdoors and to play from morning to dark.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, both wives, and great-grandson, Houston Randle.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Sam and Reba Roberson, Becky and Phillip Stewart, and Bonnie and Frank Estes; ten grandchildren: Nathan Roberson, Natalie Kunzman, Daniel Brown, Rachel Allen, Jenny Cary, Emily Hood, Jacob Stewart, Baylor Estes, Jaxon Estes, and Ben Estes; twelve great grandchildren: Noah Roberson, Sarah Roberson, Tristan Kunzman, Trevor Kunzman, Troy Kunzman, Ivy Cary, Phillip Hood, Jeffery Hood, Quinley Hood, Madeleine Hood, Lucas Hood, Dallas Randle; three step-children and their spouses and children, Gail Gregston Randle, Danny and Stephanie Gregston, and Traci Gregston, Austin Randle and Jade Erck; Sam Osburn and Connor Gregston; Raleigh and Bella Gregston.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Minister Rick Smitherman officiating. Bill was laid to rest in Victor Cemetery.
