Billie Earlene Abernathy Shipman, 85, of Desdemona, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014. She was born January 8, 1929 to Eurah and Odessa Abernathy in Desdemona, Texas. Billie married William Neldon Shipman December 8, 1947, in Desdemona.

Neldon and Billie lived most of their lives in the Eastland and Palo Pinto counties. Billie worked as a nurse for many years and was a long-time pastor's wife. They were faithful members of First Baptist Church of Desdemona for many years. Billie was a devoted and loving caregiver and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed eating chocolate ice cream and spending time with her family.

Billie is survived by her sons, Darvin Shipman and wife, Lorita of Kansas City, Kansas, and Royce Shipman and wife, Ann of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Shirley Shirley and husband, Gary of Desdemona, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and other extended family. Billie has gone home to join her husband of 65 years, Neldon Shipman; infant sister; and great grandson, Joshua Shipman.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Desdemona First Baptist Church. Graveside services followed in Howard Cemetery.
