Billie Dean Wilson, 84, of Desdemona, passed peacefully from this life in the early morning hours of May 30, 2024. Billie was born June 19, 1939, in Spur, Texas to William Bryant Wilson and Vestula Randolph Wilson. Billie married his loving wife of sixty-three years, Janice Howell, on March 18, 1961.
Billie was raised throughout West and South Texas and spent most of his school years in Quemado, Texas. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1956, and he proudly served his country from then until 1959. Billie was a Member of the Teamsters Union since the young age of twenty while working for trucking companies including Time Motor Freight, PIE, and various others; then retired in 1996 from ABF Freight Systems. He and Janice built their home outside of Desdemona in 1993 and finally fully settled there just before his retirement. Billie enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, tinkering with various pieces of equipment, and spending time outdoors. He loved to farm and tend to his cattle, a pastime that gave him immense joy up until his final days here. His family was his greatest joy in life. He loved attending his grandkids ballgames and stock shows. He was always present and involved in all of their activities as he was able. Billie was a devoted husband, loving father, special Papa, loyal friend, and dependable neighbor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Jana Buchholz and husband, Chuck, and Deana Williams and husband, Monty; grandchildren, Kristin Nicholson and husband, Zane, and their children, Wyatt, Brinley, and Charli, Stephanie White and husband, Brodie, and their child, Artie, Garrett Buchholz and wife, Standy, and their children, Finlee and Sutton, Jayci Moss and husband, Zach, and their children, Marty, and Monti Marie, Bayli Chachere and husband, Scott, and child, Hallie, and Randi Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Billie has been reunited with his parents, William and Vestula Wilson; and brother, Bill Rich.
Funeral services celebrating Billie's life were held Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Boeve officiating. Graveside committal followed in Desdemona Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Garrett Buchholz, Zane Nicholson, Brodie White, Zach Moss, Scott Chachere, and Justin Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Dillard, Richard Howell, Randy Howell, David Dillard, Billy Howell, and Michael Dillard. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association and the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Billie.
