Blaine W. "Pete" Penn, 89, of De Leon, passed peacefully from this life August 6, 2021. He was born April 29, 1932, in Mercury, Texas to Jodie P. Penn and Stella Vible Hinshaw Penn. Pete married his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Peggie Cox, June 26, 1952, in Odessa, Texas.
Pete and Peggie moved to the De Leon area in 1980. He was self-employed as an independent operator and truck driver. After completing High School, he served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including woodworking and traveling. He and Peggie especially enjoyed going on cruises with their children. Pete loved to play Dominoes and 84 with friends. Pete's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a wonderful husband to Peggie, an attentive father, a special grandfather, a loving son, brother and uncle, and a loyal friend to so many. Pete will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Peggie; sons, Phillip Penn and wife, Beverly, and Perry Penn and wife, Nancy; daughters, Judy Hanawalt and husband, J.T., and Cindy McBain and husband, George; nephew, Ricky Penn and wife, Linda; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lola Carr; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Pete has been reunited with his parents, Jodie and Stella Penn; brother, Maxie Penn; and sister, JoNell Penn Miller.
Graveside funeral services celebrating Pete's life were held Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Cox Cemetery, McCulloch County, with nephew, John Cox, officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Cook Children's Hospital at 801 7 th Avenue, Ft. Worth, Texas 76104 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 in memory of Pete.
