Bobbie Jean Dennington, at the golden age of 92, passed peacefully from this life on April 22, 2024, at De Leon Nursing and Rehab. She was born November 19, 1931, in Comanche County, Texas to John Robert "Bob" Solomon and Lillie Belle Chupp. Bobbie married Harold Lee Dennington on December 6, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1988.
Bobbie is a life-long resident of De Leon, other than a short time when she lived in Ft. Worth and met her future husband. She graduated from De Leon High School in 1948. She was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. Bobbie enjoyed many hobbies including working puzzles, playing dominoes and 42, playing Bingo and numerous other games, and spending time outdoors. She also enjoyed attending the De Leon Senior Citizen Center as much as she was able. She loved to just enjoy life and take in all the happy moments. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she was always her happiest while spending time with them. Above all else, Bobbie Jean loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of St. Joe Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. Bobbie was a special mom, a doting grandmother, and dear friend to many. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Dennington and wife, Tena, and John Dennington and wife, Natalie; daughter, Peggy Jordan and husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Taylor Dennington and wife, Arryn, Garrett Dennington, Hayden Dennington and wife, Caroline, Karen Weaver, Jeremy Jackson and wife, Lauren, Trey Jordan and wife, Erica, Scott Jordan and wife, Mackenzie; and great-grandchildren, Evan Jackson, Marley Jackson, Khloe Weaver, Ava Dennington, Mason Dennington, Kate Dennington, Madilynn Jordan and Ellie Jordan; and niece, Delyn Mankin and husband, Bill; nephew, Jason Solomon; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Bobbie has been reunited with her husband, Harold; parents, Bob and Lillie Solomon; brother, Larry Solomon; and very special friend, Charles Nabors.
Funeral services were held April 27, 2024, at Nowlin Anders Funeral Chapel with Brother Paul Winegeart officiating. Graveside committal followed in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Comanche.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the De Leon Senior Citizens Center (133 N Ballpark, De Leon) in memory of Bobbie Jean.
