Bobby Lee Abels, 71, of De Leon, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016. He was born October 18, 1944, in Lubbock, Texas to Herrald and Verna Lee Jay Abels.

Bobby proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was self-employed as a mechanic for several decades. He loved working on vehicles and motorcycles. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding dirt bikes in his spare time. Bobby loved his family and many friends. He will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his son, Bobby Lee Abels, Jr. and his wife, Pilar; brother-in-law, Bill Smith and wife, Sharon; nephews, Todd Downs and Jack Bouchier; niece, GiGi Grisham; and other extended family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Abels Smith.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 15, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Jackie Auvenshine officiating. Graveside services followed in Oliver Springs Cemetery.
