Obituary

Bud Steed, 87, passed peacefully from this life Tuesday, March 19, 2024. He was born November 3, 1936, in Sulfur Springs, Texas to Ed Steed and Opal Qualls Steed. Bud married Christine Reed, his wife of 63 years, on June 5, 1960, in Sidney, Texas.

Bud moved to the De Leon community in 1950 and met Christine not long after. He proudly served in the United States Army where he was a driver in the motor pool. He was employed as a truck driver for Caraway and Sons for over 25 years and enjoyed working with the Caraway family. Tall chrome stacks and wheels on any vehicle always made him smile.

Bud had many hobbies including working on and driving trucks, restoring antique tractors, playing guitar, and listening to music. He loved welding, working with his hands, and tinkering with things. Bud was a devoted husband to Christine, a special dad to his two sons, and a loving Pop to his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him including his church family at the Broken Bronc Cowboy Church.

Bud is survived by his wife, Christine; sons, John Mark Steed and Darrin Steed and wife, Jessica; grandsons, Cory and Toyna Baker and daughters, Dalton and Courtney Steed and family, Madison and Zach Wallace and sons, and Tristan Tergerson and daughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Opal Steed; brother, James Steed; and sister, Mozelle Pruitt.

Funeral services celebrating Bud's life were held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Broken Bronc Cowboy Church, Beattie, with Brother Bobby Davis officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Cory Baker, Dalton Steed, Zach Wallace, Tristan Tergerson, Marion Jones, and Elijah Davis. Honorary pallbearers were C.M. and Kevin Caraway.
