Obituary

Buddy G. Notgrass, 85, of Carbon, went home to his Lord and Savior August 12, 2017, with his family by his side. He was born June 1, 1932, in Courtney, Texas to James Gordon Notgrass and Rosa Mae Robinson Notgrass. Buddy married his wife of 57 years, Jo Ann Johnson, October 16, 1959, in Midland, Texas.

Buddy was a long-time member of Mangum Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War era. Buddy was employed as a Measurement Technician for El Paso Natural Gas for over thirty-five years. He loved donkeys, draft horses and mules and after retiring became a farmer and rancher. Buddy was happiest outdoors, working on his farm and tending his animals. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The most often repeated description of Buddy, be it casual acquaintance, co-worker, or long-time friend, was "He was a good honest man."

Surviving Buddy are his wife, Jo Ann Notgrass; daughter, Kim Notgrass Swinney and husband, Andy; son, Kevin Gray Notgrass and wife, Cindi Steiner Notgrass; grandchildren, Jordan Swinney and wife, Andrea, Meaghan Swinney and Misty Billingsley; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Swinney, Brielle Swinney, Mandie Wheeler, Briar Swinney and Audrey Hardy; siblings, Burl Notgrass, Nita Howard, Orita Smith, Dale Notgrass, Randall Notgrass, Lynn Blackburn; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gordon Notgrass and Rosa Mae Robinson Notgrass; and brother, Troy Notgrass.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Mangum Baptist Church, Eastland County, with Brother Chad Gosnell and Brother Larry Briley officiating. Graveside committal services followed in Sand Hill Cemetery, Comanche County.
