Obituary

Candace Bibby Carroll passed away peacefully at her home in Indian Wells, CA on August 26, 2021, after a brief illness. She was born on March 18, 1943, in Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Carroll, who died on April 3, 2020.

Candace (Candy) was raised in Texas and graduated from Austin High School in 1961. She moved to the Coachella Valley in 1962 with her parents, Howard and Marilyn Townsend Bibby, and her sister, Angela Bibby. She graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a BA in Liberal Arts and taught seventh and eighth grade English before becoming a flight attendant for Pam Am after learning to speak Spanish. She later owned a consulting business.

Candace was always a Texan at heart and was passionate about family history. She wrote a genealogy record of her Bibby family which will be housed in the De Leon Historical Museum. She loved her connection to De Leon and donated generously to the De Leon Historical Museum, Ben Hogan Museum in Dublin, De Leon Cemetery Association, and other local community projects.

Graveside memorial services for both Candace and her husband Michael were held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in De Leon Cemetery.
