Carol Ann Schmidt, 78, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior August 22, 2018. She was born July 12, 1940, in Gorman, Texas to J.W. Tunnell and Jessie Lou Grisham Tunnell. Carol was married to Kenneth Schmidt.

Carol Ann was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, De Leon. She retired from nursing after many years of service. She absolutely loved nursing and the opportunity it provided her to help others. She was a loving and caring soul who always put others first. Carol Ann was a talented artist and enjoyed crafting. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Schmidt, Daniel Schmidt, and Matt Schmidt and wife, Dana; grandchildren, Chance Bass and Jared Schmidt; life-long companion and friend, Evette Meadows; sons by heart, Paul Phelps and Tyler Barron. Carol Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and parents, J.W. and Jessie Tunnell.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home.
