Obituary

Charles William "Bill" Lamb, 77, of De Leon, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in Ft. Worth, with his loving family by his side. He was born September 19, 1947, in Paducah, Texas to Leonard Austin Lamb and Daphne Jane Ferris Lamb. Bill married his childhood sweetheart, Boba Setzler Lamb in De Leon on November 23, 1967.

Bill lived in the De Leon community most all his life. He graduated from De Leon High School in 1966 and then attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship. Bill finished his bachelor degree and graduated from Tarleton State University in 1970. Bill and Boba settled back home in De Leon where they operated several family businesses together including Lamb Heating and Air Conditioning and Lamb Real Estate. Bill also worked full time for the United States Postal Service. He served as the Postmaster in Mingus, Texas for fifteen years and as the office clerk and mail carrier in De Leon for fifteen years.

He was a devoted husband to Boba, a caring and loving dad to his daughters, a special Dad-O to his grandchildren, and a loyal friend to many. Bill was a devout football fan and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed attending and watching his grandchildren's activities. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Boba; daughters, Shay Benefield and husband John, Kassie Harrington and husband Jake, and Rene Stanko and husband Scott; sister, Judy Lamb Sadberry and husband Otis Earl; grandchildren, Genesis Benefield, Hunter Harrington, Harper Harrington, Haille Brill and husband Nolan, and Eryn Stanko; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Clinton Radley Lamb; parents, Leonard Austin Lamb and Daphne Jane Ferris Lamb; brothers, Wayne Lamb and Buddy Lamb; and sister, Patsy Lamb Christie.

Funeral services celebrating Bill's life were held Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Burlison officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Trent Thomas, Johnny Bob Carruth, Bob Straub, Donny Sharp, Bobby Pierson, Mike Stewart, and Michael Smith. Honorary pallbearers were James Morgan, Bodie Weaver, Vick Johnson, Matt Johnson, and Harry Kalustian.
