Charlotte Higginbottom, 88, of De Leon, passed peacefully from this life with her loving family by her side. She was born June 7, 1936, in Comyn, Texas to Judge Hanson and Johnnie Fritts Hanson. Charlotte married Harold Gene Higginbottom June 29, 1956. They enjoyed a loving marriage of sixty-eight years.

Charlotte was raised in De Leon and graduated Salutatorian of the class of 1954. She was a devoted and loving homemaker to her family. She and Harold Gene are long time members of De Leon First Baptist Church, and they loved their church family dearly. Charlotte enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, working in the yard and gardening, and staying current on news, politics, and sports. She was a lifelong learner and an avid reader. Her family was the center of her life, and she loved attending her grandchildren's ballgames and school events. Charlotte served her church in whatever capacity she was able as long as she was able. She was a longtime member of the De Leon ESA Sorority and had a very enjoyable social life. She was a devoted wife, loving and attentive mother, doting grandmother, special sister and aunt, and a loyal friend to many. She will be missed beyond measure by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Gene Higginbottom; daughter, Janet Jones and husband, David, and Vickie Pettit and husband, Cliff; grandchildren, Tyler Pettit and wife, Alisha, Kristen Pettit, Cole Pettit, Lexie Wood and husband, Joel, and Chance Jones; great granddaughter, Avery Pettit; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Judge and Johnnie Hanson; and sister, Tommye Hanson Nabors.

Funeral services celebrating Charlotte's life were held Friday, January 31,2025, at 1:00 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Jim Farley officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Tyler Pettit, Cole Pettit, Chance Jones, Mike Huddleston, Cole Koenig and Jerry Singleton. Wayland Higginbottom was an honorary pallbearer.
