Obituary

C.J. Fisher, 96, of Dallas, Texas, peacefully passed away April 10, 2020. He was born February 29, 1924, in Comanche County, Texas to William Fisher and Minnie (Self) Fisher. He grew up there helping on the family farm and graduated from Beattie High School.

He joined the Air Force in March of 1944 during WWII and repaired radar equipment on B24 bombers. After honorable discharge from the Air Force in March of 1946, C.J. returned home to marry his childhood sweetheart, Charlsie Marie Gressett, also from Comanche County on August 11, 1946. They were married for 73 years until his passing. C.J. was a member of First Baptist Carrollton in Carrollton, Texas.

C.J. attended two years of college at Hardin Simmons University and Texas Tech University. He then worked at Whites Auto Stores for 38 years, retiring in 1987.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Charlsie; son, Brad Fisher and wife, Nancy; grandchildren, Jake and Garrett Fisher; sister-in-law, Barbara Tacker whom he and Charlsie were blessed to raise as their own from the age of seven; brother, Ardis Fisher and wife, Linda; sister, Oleta Branum; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. C.J. was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Paul, Cecil, and twins, Floyd and Lloyd Fisher; and sisters, Alta Williams, Irene Row, Mary Horton, Christine Gressett, Odessa Miller and Ruth Fishel.

There will be a celebration of Charlsie and CJ's life at the DeLeon Cemetery in De Leon, Texas on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Matt Morton officiating. The Fisher family will receive friends at the cemetery from 1-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Jake Fisher and Garrett Fisher of Dallas, Texas, nephew, Troy Tacker of Vernon, Texas, and nephew, Jerry Brown of Amarillo, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Texas Food Bank at 3677 Mapleshade Lane, Plano, Texas 75075, in honor of C.J. Condolences may be offered online at www.nowlinandersfh.com .
