Connie L. Gilchrest, age 73, of Comanche, Texas passed away peacefully on the 6th of February, 2026, surrounded by the love of her vast family.

Born in Gorman, Texas to Marvin and Mary Newton of De Leon, she was the devoted wife of 54 years to Marlin E. Gilchrest. Together they went on to build a family of son and daughter-in-law, Justin "Ty" and Cathy Gilchrest, son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Angela Gilchrest, and daughter and son-in-law, Canda and T-Rey Brawley. Connie had a full, beautiful dozen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Connie was known for her unwavering strength and absolute selflessness. She spent her career a servant to the public. She served in the De Leon Hospital, home health, and cherished her time as a 911 Dispatcher. Connie retired after decades of service to the City of Comanche and Comanche County as well as surrounding areas.

Outside of work, Connie was a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her time with her family the most but could be found playing games or reading her favorite book. Her independent nature and devotion to those she loved will be missed deeply.
