Dana Lea Jones, 57, of De Leon, passed from this life Monday, October 9, 2023, in Brownwood, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 27, 1966, to Nathan McElhaney and Betty Beck McElhaney in Benton, Arkansas. Dana married James Arnold Jones August 31,1984.

Dana was raised in Arkansas and graduated from high school there. Dana and James moved to De Leon in 2005 and they planted deep roots here. She and James fostered over seventy children throughout the course of their marriage, and she was a devoted and loving homemaker for her family consistently. She loved children and would do anything she could to try to help a child lacking any resources whether it be a financial need, a health need, or just a need to feel loved.  She faithfully volunteered in the Bearcat concession stand for over fifteen years and was always a friendly and welcoming face to fans. Dana enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, spending time outdoors, and tending to her many animals. She always had an open-door policy and would welcome anyone into her home. She was a true caretaker and that is what gave her the greatest joy in life – helping others. She will be missed beyond measure by her family, friends, and her community.

She is survived by her parents, Nathan and Betty McElhaney; daughters, Sarah Jones, Leeanne Jones, Hope Jones, and Jessica Garcia; grandchildren, Everly Fullagar, Kenslee Garcia, Emma Solis, and James Solis; brother, Neil McElhaney; numerous foster children she loved over the years; and other extended family. Dana has been reunited with her husband, James.

Dana lived a full and loving life, and her final wishes are being fulfilled by her loved ones. No services are currently scheduled but a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
