Obituary

On Thursday, November 12, 2020, a loving husband of forty-eight years, a father, and the best Papa in the world felt no more pain and went peacefully from his earthly home. He joined his Lord and Savior in a perfect eternity. David Mailloux was born April 25, 1948, in Buffalo, New York, to Edward Mailloux and Marya Zasdaza Mailloux. David married his loyal and loving wife, Treasure Smith, September 22, 1972, in Chula Vista, CA.

David enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school. He bravely and selflessly served two service periods for his county, combining a total of almost ten years. David was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War and received many honorable decorations, medals, badges, and commendations for his dedication and service. After returning from war and being honorably discharged from the Navy, he and Treasure moved back to De Leon to be near family. At that stage in life, David obtained his Associates Degree from Ranger College. David owned and operated David's Exxon Gas Station for a little over ten years. He then became employed with Golden Peanut and retired from there in 2017 after thirty years. David enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. Most notably would be his vast collection of major league baseball cards. He also enjoyed antiquing and was quite the prankster leaving many with fond and humorous memories of him.

At the center of David's life was God and his family. His family was his pride and joy. His wife, his children, and his grandchildren meant everything to him and he loved them well. He was a devoted husband, an encouraging and committed father, and a doting grandfather. He leaves behind a loving legacy. He is survived by his wife, Treasure Smith Mailloux; daughters, Dawn Mailloux-Smith (Rodrick) and Treasure Mailloux; grandchildren, Kaylee Smith, Gabrielle Propps (Cody) and Aeron Adger; great-grandson, Jake Propps; brothers, Jacques Mailloux and J.P. Mailloux; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family; and many dear friends. David was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lawrence Mailloux and Paul Mailloux; and sister, Susan Kepping.

A Celebration of David's life was held Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 2:30 p.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating.
