Deborah Kay Lucas, 66, of De Leon, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was born March 18, 1956, in Pensacola, Florida to Thomas Lee Ely and Doris Cate Ely. Deborah married Douglas Lucas July 7, 1973.

Deborah was employed for over twenty years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She loved caring for the elderly and worked in numerous nursing homes throughout her career. Deborah enjoyed raising pugs and Bitty became her favorite of all time. She rededicated her life to serve Jesus Christ as her Savior in January of 2022.

She is survived by her sons, Damen Lucas and wife, Marla, and Derrick Lucas; grandchildren, Katerina Lucas, Natalie Lucas, and Kayla Lucas; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Carol Desnoyers and husband, Michael, Teresa Castillo and husband, Albert, and Janet Olvera and husband, John; longtime friend and caregiver, Janie Hornback; and other extended family. Deborah has been reunited with her husband, Douglas Lucas (2009); parents, Tom and Doris; and sister, Linda Ely.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in Gorman Oaklawn Cemetery with Brother Stephen Forester officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
