Obituary

Denver L. Craig, 92, of De Leon, went home to his Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

He was born August 21, 1921, in Hasse, Texas, to Charlie Coen Craig and Rosa Lee Henderson Craig. Denver married Laverne Power Craig September 11, 1976 in De Leon.

Denver was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945. During his dedicated service to our country during WWII, he was stationed in North Africa, Italy, Belgium and Germany.

Denver was self-employed constructing cotton gins where he would assemble many of the mechanical components necessary for the gin to operate. In his earlier years, Denver enjoyed golfing, cattle ranching and farming. He was a devoted family man and friend to many.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Laverne Craig of De Leon; nephew, Roger Craig and wife, Gena; grandchildren, Adam Craig and Lindsay Kearns; brother, Johnny Weldon Craig; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family. Denver was preceded by his first wife and son, parents, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.

A memorial service honoring Denver was held Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home. Brother Jackie Auvenshine and Brother Daniel Harper officiated the service.
