Obituary

Dianne Donegan, age eighty-two years and two months, passed away February 18, 2022, at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas.

Dianne was born at home in Kirbyville, Texas, on Christmas Day 1939 to I. C. (Butter) and Lillian Ware Donegan. She joined three siblings in the household and remained "the baby" in the family.

In 1957, Dianne graduated from De Leon High School. She attended the University of Texas for two years and later took courses at the University of Idaho.

Throughout her life her interests and "jobs" have almost always centered around the arts in one way or another: music, visual arts, theater, books, libraries, and writing. Hobbies included gardening and cooking. She was a people person and an animal lover. Anyone who knows her knows these very special things about her.

Dianne lived in several areas across the United States including Texas, Louisiana, Idaho and Ohio. It was in Ohio that she had the opportunity to work in local theater and in several libraries. It was also here that she met Donna Gibson, her partner for over forty years.  Donna is an artist and together they formed a business called Mountaintop Studios which specialized in miniatures paintings, scale model furniture, hand painted pewter animals and more. They traveled extensively to participate in miniatures shows. After two years in Kerrville they moved back to De Leon in 1988. Dianne directed the De Leon Senior Citizen Center for almost twenty years, retiring in February 2021.

She is survived by her partner in life, Donna Gibson; her sister, Gayle Stroud; five nephews; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dr. Danny Donegan; and her sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Jim Hansford.

At Dianne's request, memorial contributions may be given to PAWS, Inc. at 108 East Ross, De Leon, Texas 76444, or to a charity of your choice. Private family graveside services will be held in De Leon Cemetery.
