Obituary

Dick Senter, 73, a long-time educator and coach for De Leon ISD, passed from this life Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in Brownwood. Dick married his loving wife of fifty-three years, Susie Ann Hall, on July 3, 1969, in Bowie, Arizona.

Dick graduated from Chillicothe High School and then enlisted in the United States Marines serving two years and then served in the Reserves until 1975. After his active service he attended and graduated from the University of Arizona. Dick and Susie moved to De Leon in 1987 and built their life here. They were long time members of De Leon First Baptist Church. Dick was an educator and coach for De Leon ISD for 24 years. He absolutely loved his involvement with the youth and the opportunity it provided him to help build and shape their character and future. In his spare time, he loved to golf. Spending time out on the course gave him great peace and joy. Dick also loved fishing and watching any sporting event. He was a loving husband to Susie, an involved father to his daughters, a special grandfather, caring neighbor, and loyal friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Susie A. Senter; daughters, Kathy Jones and Holly Hammon and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Scotty Jones, and Connor Hammon; great-grandchild, Ezra Ryker Hammon; brother, Dean Senter; sisters, Jean Ann Hopkins and husband, Roger, and Mary Salena Elder and husband, Tommy; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Dick was preceded by his parents and grandson, Taylor Hammon.

Funeral services celebrating Dick's life were held Wednesday, July 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Paul Winegeart officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Rusty Bennett, Mark Lewis, Delbert Turner, Chuck Miller, Jack McCombs, Tim Lewelling, and Connor Hammon.
