Obituary

Don Morris Hargrove, 72, of De Leon, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 30, 1942, in Cross Plains, Texas, to B.R. and Virginia Ruth Wilkerson Hargrove. Don married Glenda Jo Strube November 30, 1981.

Don graduated from Baird High School in 1960. He was a star football and basketball player and a top track athlete during high school. Don was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church in Cross Plains. He retired from 3M as a machinist after thirty-two years of dedicated service.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming. He loved to travel to Del Rio to watch bull riding events with his family. He liked to attend estate auctions and spend time with his family and friends. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed beyond measure.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Glenda Jo Hargrove; sons, Todd Whatley, Ted Whatley and wife, Dina, Lynn Hargrove and wife, Margery, and Damon Hargrove; daughters, Melissa Hargrove and Leah Michelle Davis and husband, Brett; brothers, Jimmy Hargrove and wife, Cliffadean, Billy Russell Hargrove and wife, Carol, and Steve Hargrove; sister, Virginia Dixon; grandchildren, Tony, Claire, Ethan, Dawson, Hanna, Lauren, Taylor, Donald, Emily, Lindy, Hanna, Austin and Avery; nephews, Mark Sides and wife, Mindy, and Ryan Sides and wife, Kori; niece, Terrill Casey and husband, Jack; and other extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, B.R. and Gladys Hargrove; step-father and mother, Buster and Virginia Ruth Gary; brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Shirley Sides; and nephew, Dusty Hargrove.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 26, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Chaplain Tim Martin officiating. Graveside services followed in Ebenezer Cemetery.
