Obituary

Donnie Hare Brownlee, 87, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, July 6, 2018. She was born June 9, 1931, in Spur, Texas to John R. Scott and Betty Mae Clements Scott.

Donnie was a proud graduate of Spur High School. She lived in De Leon most all of her adult life and raised three sons here. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church and the Couples II Sunday School Class. Donnie enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, sewing, traveling with her family and many friends, working in her yard, tending to her flowers, and spending time outdoors. She was very involved in the De Leon community and volunteered in various capacities as she was able. She recently received the De Leon Woman of the Year Award. Donnie was also a long-time member of the De Leon Shakespeare Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted homemaker, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Donnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Elton Brownlee; sons, Mike Hare and wife, Dotty, Toby Hare and wife, Lisa, and Tim Hare and wife, Kim; step-children, Sheri Murray and husband, Bob, Bryan Brownlee and wife, Barbara, and Sherman Brownlee; grandchildren, Stacie Crosby, Melissa Bruton and husband, Brian, Josh Hare and wife, Kallie, Breanna Barnes, Jake Hare and Kady Hare; step-grandchildren, Joe Brazell, Jill Shipley, Josh Brownlee, Jake Brownlee, Jeri Brownlee, Tiffany Brownlee and Brittany Looney; great-grandchildren, Hudson Bruton, Wyatt Bruton, Hagen Hare, Hayes Hare, Kambree Barnes, and Brooklyn Barnes; sister, Betty Burnett; numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family. Donnie was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll J. "Rabbit" Hare; five brothers; and one sister.

Funeral services celebrating Donnie's life were held Monday, July 9, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, De Leon, with Dr. Jeff Burnett officiating. Interment followed in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to De Leon First Baptist Church, in honor of Donnie.
