Obituary

Doris Jean Hall Joiner, 77, of De Leon, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, with all three girls and family at her side. She was born August 16, 1937, in Stamford, Texas, to Harvey Lee Hall and Anna Lou Pritchett Hall. Doris married Elmer Ray Joiner on November 5, 1960, in De Leon.

Doris was an active member of De Leon First Christian Church for many years. She was a faithful servant to her church and to the Lord. She retired from De Leon ISD after 23 years of teaching in De Leon, Carbon, Sidney, and Ranger Jr. College. Her first career was in cosmetology where she owned her own beauty salon.

She was a proud graduate of Texas Christian University and received two Master degrees from Tarleton State University. Doris was extremely knowledgeable on current events and politics. She was an active member of the Erath Republican Party and was awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas from the Texas Republican Party. She dedicated countless hours of volunteer work to the Relay for Life (Comanche County) of the American Cancer Society and the Annual Bunco Relay for Life fund raiser. She was always full of laughter and a joy to be around. Doris leaves many wonderful memories with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.

Survivors include her three daughters; Tracey Hardin and husband, Rocky; Pepper Cruson and husband, Kevin; and Sue Lewis and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Justin Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Kylie Cruson, Kevin Lewis and Klint Lewis; great-grandchildren, Laikynn Raye Hardin and Bryce Hardin.

Doris has gone home to join her husband, Elmer Ray Joiner; parents, Harvey and Ann Lou Hall; and sister, Glenda Sue Hall Soloman.

A celebration of Doris' life was held Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at De Leon First Christian Church. Pastor Dan Burlison and Ed Millwee officiated the service. Serving as pallbearers were Doris' grandchildren, Justin Hardin, Matthew Hardin, Kylie Cruson, Kevin Lewis and Klint Lewis; and family friends, Jackie Pounds, Phil Barnes, Rusty Freed, Mark Sides, Ryan Sides, Jim Farley, Joe Casey, Jack Casey and Mark Wilkerson.
