Doris Grace Johnson, 83, went home to her Lord and Savior Friday, June 30, 2017, with her family by her side.
She was born February 1, 1934, in Hobbs, NM to Elbert Larence Eggleston and Rachel Irene Grace Eggleston. Doris married John Ray Johnson November 18, 1950.
Doris was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of De Leon and a member of the Couples 2 Sunday School Class. She was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family. Doris loved to sew, crochet and knit. She was an extremely talented artist. She loved oil painting and crafting. Doris' family was the center of her life. She was her happiest while spending time with them. Doris was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and neighbor. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughter, Agatha Johnson Lowery and husband, Burl D.; grandchildren, Diana Flanagan and husband, Corby; Melody Smith and husband, Cody; and Tara Snyder and husband, James; great-grandchildren, William Flanagan, Ryan Flanagan, Caylee Smith, Macy Smith, Zach Davis, Kaitlyn Davis, Jacob Davis, Ryan Snyder and Dylan Snyder; brother, Sterling Earl Eggleston; sister-in-law, Betty Golden; brother-in-law, Jack Roy Johnson and wife, Nancy; brother-in-law, Joe Bob Browning; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Doris was preceded by her loving husband of 65 years, John Ray Johnson; parents, Elbert and Rachel Eggleston; brother, Thurston Larence; and sister, Rilda Irene Thompson.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at De Leon First Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Harper officiating. Graveside services followed in De Leon Cemetery.
