Obituary

Dorotha Mae Locke, 93, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Wednesday, March 26, 2014. She was born March 25, 1921, in Abilene, Texas, to Dott Edward Smith Sr. and Dona Mae Wilson Smith. Dorotha married Claude "Ham" Hiram Locke October 11, 1939 in De Leon.

Dorotha was a founding member of Firstfruit Christian Fellowship of Gorman. She was very instrumental in the development of many Christians as they learned to walk with the Lord. Dorotha was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She was also very faithful in serving her community. She was a member of the PAR Ladies Auxiliary and the PAR Women's Golf Association. She was also a founding member of De Leon Hospital Auxiliary.

She enjoyed photography, refinishing furniture, and quilting. She loved travel and enjoyed her trips to Europe, Hawaii, a Caribbean Cruise, and trips to the Hill Country taking pictures of the wild flowers. She would often take Sunday drives to locate needs and see that something was done about them.

She is survived by her daughter, Malinda Ann Sadberry and husband, J.W.; sons, William "Bill" Hiram Locke and wife, Patsy, Jack Wayne Locke and wife, Claudia, and Joe Henry Locke and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Dana Locke and wife, Susan, Kristin Sommerville and husband, David, Jill Sadberry, Russell Sadberry and wife, Denise, Adam Sadberry and wife, Jamie, Manon Locke and wife, Kristi, Maggie Thayer and husband, Joshua, Kelsey Locke, Beth Locke and Matthew Locke and wife, Sara; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.

Dorotha was preceded by her husband; parents; brother, Dott Smith, Jr., and sister, Mary Spears.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Downing Cemetery. Pastor Clay Wheat officiated the service.
