Dwane "Sam" Gary, 82, of Victor, Texas peacefully passed from this life Friday, July 26, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dwane was born June 25, 1942, in Gorman, Texas to S.E. Gary and Lotena Norton Gary.
Dwane married Sue Sturdivant Gary, August 2, 1963. They enjoyed a lighthearted and blessed marriage one week short of sixty-one years.
Dwane graduated from De Leon High School in the Class of 1960. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Tarleton State University. He was employed and retired from the Texas Department of Agriculture after a long and successful career as an Inspector.
Dwane was a long-time member of the Armstong Masonic Lodge #445.
Dwane loved all animals but was especially fond of dogs. He was quick-witted, incredibly funny, honest and loyal. Dwane was a Christian and his love for the Lord never wavered. He was a devoted husband to Sue, a loving dad, and loved his grandkids.
A special group of friends in his life were all the men who came in and out of the "Ole Farts Club". These men met every Thursday at 2 PM, on Dwane's porch, they celebrated life together while offering advice for solving all the world's issues. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dwane is survived by his wife, Sue; daughters, Diane and Kirk Parsons and Cheryl and Rowdy Elston; granddaughters, Shafer and Marshall Thornhill, Catherine Fuller, and Hannah Parsons; grandsons, Quinn and Jessica St. Ama, Chance and Millie Parsons, Devin and Sieta St. Ama, Milo and Jennifer Parsons, Tucker Elston, Tate Elston.
Great-grandchildren, Winston, Henrik, Hudson, Hunter Belle, Hans, Annika, Hunter Ryan, Barrett, and Bristol Paige.
He has been reunited with his parents, S.E. and Lotena Gary, his brother Ronald Eugene Gary, grandparents, Earl and Bessie Norton and C.D. and Hattie Gary.
Graveside services celebrating Dwane's life were held Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Victor Cemetery with Pastor Todd King officiating.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Erath County Humane Society (891 East Road, Stephenville, Texas 76401) in memory of Dwane "Sam" Gary.
