Eddie Shelton Dixon, 77, passed away June 6, 2016 at his home in Mill Creek, Oklahoma. He was the husband of Judy Dixon and they shared 17 years of marriage.
Born in Seminole, Oklahoma, he was the son of Shelton W. and Mildred Dixon and was raised in West Texas. He attended Tarleton State University and Texas Tech University, earning his Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry. He was employed with Mobil Oil Corporation for 25 years, primarily in West Texas. He also owned Dixon Lease Works for 5 years. He moved to Desdemona in 1978 and retired at the age of 55. He was a resident of De Leon for 29 years. During retirement he enjoyed farming cattle and taking care of his farm.
He will be remembered for his strong determination and hard work ethic. He had a great sense of humor and was a lover of the outdoors. He spent many years hunting, fishing, and camping. His favorite by far was deer hunting. A close second, running a catfish trot line. He loved watching sports.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Dixon; sister, Jerry Vest; and brother, Joe Dixon. He had four children, Guy Dixon and fiancé, Patty Griffin; Clay Dixon and wife, Keri, Jonna McKinnon and husband, Robb, and Jody Dixon, all whose mother was Shirley Dixon. He had eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, June 10, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating.
