Elida Cantu Leal, 83, peacefully passed away December 20, 2020. She was born September 21, 1937, in Robstown, Texas to Lepoldo Cantu and Josefa Suaceda Cantu.

Elida was Catholic. She loved life and her infectious happy personality brought a smile to all she knew. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking (she made the best tamales), dining out, and going to casinos. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved to have them all together for big family gatherings. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elida is survived by her daughters, Susie Moreno and Sulema Garcia; sisters, Olga Sanchez, Oralia Cantu, Josefa Torrez, and Gloria Fuentes; numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her children, Sylvia Leal, Pedro Leal, and Sandra Moreno; grandson, Johnathon Garcia; parents, Lepoldo and Josefa Cantu; brothers, Joe Cantu, Robert Cantu, Polo Cantu; and sister, Mary Trejo.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, December 26, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery.
