Elizabeth Grimes Pilley, 96, of De Leon, went home to her Lord and Savior Monday, February 6, 2017. She was born to Elbert Merion Grimes and Sis Nannie Neal Grimes August 31, 1920, in Avoca, Texas.
Elizabeth married J.D. Pilley February 2, 1940, in Stamford, Texas.
Elizabeth moved to De Leon from Beattie in 1980. She was employed as a Librarian for many years and was a devoted and loving homemaker to her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved every moment she was able to spend with them. Elizabeth enjoyed quilting and going to garage sales. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda R. Hinton and Linda Darlene Bates; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John Henry Grimes and Elbert Grimes; sisters, Dollie Bond, Margie Ikeler and Dora Ann Gardner; and other extended family.
Elizabeth was preceded by her husband, J.D. Pilley; parents, Elbert and Sis Grimes; sisters, Wanda Grimes, Ruthie Lucille Williams, Lilly Bell Burkley, and young sister, Lanora Grimes; and infant granddaughter, Bonnita Jo Hinton.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, February 10, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Comanche.
