Emma Gauna Garza, 74, passed from this life January 3, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born December 18, 1947, in Hondo, Texas to Trinidad Gauna and Pauline Segovia Gauna.
Emma was a Baptist and loved the Lord. She was a longtime resident of De Leon. She was a loving and caring homemaker for her family. She had a large family and was always her happiest while spending time with her children and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many hobbies including listening to music, dancing, watching western series and Law and Order, playing Bingo, and cooking Sunday meals for her family. She was full of life and enjoyed her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Vincente Garza, Jr. (Rosario), and Gerald Garza (Laura); daughters, Dominga Barron (Mariano), Rose Mary Garza, Nancy Garza Davis, Pauline Villarreal (Gerardo, Jr.), Graciela Garza Hancock (James, Sr.) and Daisy Young (Corey); brothers, Junior Gauna, Pete Gauna, Manuel Gauna, and Ignacio Gauna; sisters, Rosa Garcia and Yolanda Gauna; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bisente Garza; son, Trinidad Garza; two grandsons, CJ Davis and Luis Roy Garza; granddaughter, Geraldine Villarreal; great-grandson, Ivan De Leon, Jr.; two brothers, Paul Gauna and Guadalupe Gauna; and son-n-law, Charlie Davis.
Graveside funeral services were held Friday, January 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in De Leon Cemetery with Pastor Mike Fritscher officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Rene Garza, Alex Garza, Damian Garza, Erik Garza, James Hancock, Gerardo Villarreal, and Michael Amaya. Honorary pallbearers were Joey Hancock, Mario Pena, Jr., and Darien Garza.
