Obituary

Evelyn (Carruth) Hare, 91, peacefully passed from this life Friday, September 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 19, 1932, in De Leon, Texas to William T. and Allie Carruth.

After settling briefly in Downing, Texas, Evelyn's parents, William and Allie Carruth, purchased land west of De Leon and established a farmstead with their family. Evelyn was a graduate of De Leon High School, where she met her husband, Billy Joe Hare, and they were married on June 5, 1950.

Evelyn was a devoted mother, tireless homemaker and dedicated Christian attending First Baptist Church, De Leon, participating in choir and many church-related activities.  After Evelyn moved to Comanche to live at Whitestone Assisted Living facility, Evelyn attended New Life Pentecostal Church of Comanche, which was located across from the Whitestone facility, and quickly made many friends and relationships.

She is survived by her sons, Cliff Hare and wife, Helen, of Denton, Texas, Steve Hare and wife, Trish, of Ardmore, Oklahoma and daughter, Cathy Hare of De Leon, Texas; granddaughters, Heather Mount and husband, Daniel of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Jenny Newcomb and husband, Trey, of The Colony, Texas; and great-grandson, Owen Newcomb.  Evelyn was extremely proud of her three children and her one grandson. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Evelyn has been reunited with her husband, Billy Joe Hare; parents, William and Allie Carruth; brother, William (Billy) Carruth; and sister, Mary Frances Morgan.

Funeral services celebrating Evelyn's life were held at 11:30 a.m. in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Comanche, with Pastor Jeffrey Pitman and Brother Paul Winegeart officiating.
