Obituary

E.Y. "Zeke" Morris, 93, of De Leon, passed away October 18, 2017, at De Leon Nursing and Rehab with his loving family by his side. He was born June 6, 1924, in Comanche County to Charlie and Bam Dyson Morris.

Zeke proudly served in the United States Navy on an aircraft carrier during World War II in Guam. Other than his time in the service, he lived his entire life in Comanche County. He retired from Lone Star Gas after many years of working as a repairman and installer. Zeke was also a peanut farmer and raised cattle and donkeys. He loved any time he was able to spend outdoors on his farm. Later in life, Zeke enjoyed playing 42 and dominoes with his many friends at the nursing home. He and Marie were long-time members of St. Joe Baptist Church. They always enjoyed traveling, especially to Montana to visit family. Zeke was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Zeke is survived by his daughter, Susan Hodges and husband, Terry; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Morris; grandchildren, Jessica Dyson, Talmage Hodges and wife, Blakeney, Hattie Mantei and Charlie Morris; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Morris; son, Zack Morris; parents, Charlie and Bam Morris; five sisters, Geraldine Van Zandt, Curly Plemons, Slick Magee, Earlene Warner and Kinky Stobie; and brother, J.B. Morris.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Nowlin Anders Funeral Home with Brother Kenneth Wilson officiating. Zeke was laid to rest beside his wife, Marie, in De Leon Cemetery.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joe Baptist Church or the charity of choice, in memory of Zeke.
