Faye L. Nichols, 91, of De Leon, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, with her family by her side. She was born September 3, 1925, in Purcell, Missouri. Faye married Ralph V. Nichols August 1, 1947 in Clifton, Texas.
Faye and Ralph moved to De Leon in 1972 after Ralph retired from the United States Navy. She was a member of First Baptist Church of De Leon. Faye was a devoted homemaker and spent countless hours volunteering in many capacities in De Leon. She loved to volunteer her time at the De Leon Nursing Home serving as a beautician to many residents. She was a past long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star De Leon Chapter #693. In her younger years, Faye enjoyed crocheting, reading and travelling. She had an outgoing and witty personality and will be greatly missed by her family and many loving friends.
She is survived by her loving niece, Shirley A. Ennes and husband, Robert; other extended family; honorary granddaughter, Mary Garcia; honorary great-granddaughter, Alexis Garcia (Faye's little Red Bird); and her beloved dog, Chiquita.
Faye was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Bendure; sisters, Opal, Mabel and Hazel; brothers, Lloyd, Orville, Roy and Henry; great-nephew, Kenneth L. Rossini; and beloved dog, Pepe.
Graveside funeral services were held Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in De Leon Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, De Leon Chapter, in honor of Faye.
