Obituary

Faye Maxine Swint, 89, of Desdemona, peacefully passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2021. She was born September 29, 1932, in Denver, Colorado to James W. Posey and Bertha Miller Posey. She grew up in Nacogdoches, Texas as a child. Faye married her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Walter Lloyd Swint, on August 11, 1950, in Texas City, Texas.

Faye and Walter moved quite a bit in the early years of their marriage due to his career as a pipefitter welder in the construction industry. In 1971, they moved from Charlotte, Arkansas and settled in Desdemona making it their home for the remainder of their lives for fifty years. Faye was a devoted homemaker for her family. She was a talented seamstress, upholsterer, and furniture refinisher. She refinished many pieces of special furniture for several friends and businesses in town and surrounding areas.

She loved the family farm and tending to the cattle, horses, and gardening. She loved to bake and make preserves. She was known to some to have the best fried apricot pies and the best wild plum jelly. She would travel with her husband when they could to New Mexico to go see the horse races, down to the coast just to get their feet wet on the beach looking for seashells, or just to visit with family and friends throughout the state of Texas. She was an active fisherman for bass, crappie, and catfish.  Faye and Walter were long-term members of First United Methodist Church of De Leon. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star (De Leon Chapter #693) for many decades. Faye was a loving and attentive wife and mother, a doting grandmother, and a loyal friend to many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Lloyd Dale Swint and wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Talina Williamson, Terra Webb, Jason Swint, and Lee Swint; great-grandchildren, Bayli Williamson, Aiden Williamson, Lucas Williamson, Liam Webb and Keldon Webb; great great-grandchildren, Kip Humphries and (arriving soon) Kenlie Brooks Humphries; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Walter (2005); daughter, Peggy Faye Swint; son, John I. Swint (1996), her parents; and two sisters, Lorene and Florine.

Funeral services celebrating Faye's life were held Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor John Woodard and Pastor Kaiya Kershaw officiating. Faye was laid to rest beside her husband in Desdemona Cemetery.
